Designer/ Junior Designer

  • Location: High Wycombe
  • Salary: Competitive

Overall responsibility:

To learn and develop the required skills and abilities within the Design discipline so that the following activities are able to be undertaken.

 

Specific duties:

  • Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT (2D & 3D)
  • Assist Sales / Estimating departments by locating, or generating, if necessary, details for projects in the sales or estimating departments
  • Attend Design Handover Meetings from the estimating department and agree/compile a design brief for the project
  • Identify key interfaces with adjacent structures or finishing trades
  • Prepare requests for Information / Query sheets as required and monitor replies
  • Produce Drawing Schedules, General Arrangement and Working drawings for Design team approval
  • Ensure delivery of all information to the design team, and approval thereof, in accordance with project programme requirements
  • Design Review – revise and re-issue commented drawings
  • Attend Design Meetings as required throughout the design process
  • Produce Fabrication information or component drawings, as required, to an agreed program
  • Undertake checking responsibilities for fabrication information generated by other Designers
  • Visit Sites as necessary to ascertain conditions, carrying out basic surveying if required
  • Represent Optima Design at Pre / Mid / Post Tender interviews for forthcoming projects
  • Select external designer/structural engineers/consultants where relevant
  • Take on responsibility for a proportion of the design office workload as agreed and discussed with Optima Design Director
  • Check all elements to a project, including, Drawing Schedules, General Arrangement Drawings, Working Drawings and Fabrication information
  • Be aware of current Optima project workload and project timings, maintain regular contact with each member of the Optima design team and monitor their progress against program
  • Assist Contract/Project Managers with the production of accurate, realistic design programs for current or forthcoming projects
  • Provide Design and Technical Support for all other departments as required
  • Check Project BIM requirement/protocols on any new project. Implement into design program all models and information needed
  • Any other appropriate duties as may be required

 

Health, safety and environmental responsibilities

Health, safety and environmental responsibility fall to us all.  This role requires that you: –

  • Take into consideration any health and safety risks in the design including maintenance of the final product
  • Identify any residual risks associated with the design in the SHE box on the drawings
  • Identify any residual risks associated with the design in the Designers Risk assessment
  • Take into consideration any environmental impacts (e.g. material selection) when undertaking design
  • Ensure that any project sustainability requirements (e.g. BREEAM, LEED etc.) are addressed in design
  • Ensure any design complies with all applicable standards including any legal requirements

Regional Account Manager

  • Location: High Wycombe
  • Salary: Competitive

Purpose:

Account Management of a selected group of accounts exclusively for all areas outside the M25. To form strong relationships with key individuals with a view to establishing contacts for new projects and/or repeat work.

Responsibilities:

  • The management of a number of key architectural accounts, focussing specifically on new practices or strengthening the relationship with existing practices
  • The management of a number of key Contractor accounts, focussing specifically on new Contractors or strengthening the relationship with existing Contractors
  • Development of a list of prospects to be tracked on a daily basis
  • Provision of a technical advisory role to architects and contractors
  • Liaison with the entire project team, architect/designer, quantity surveyor, project manager and main contractor(s) from initial lead through to job start
  • Writing specifications
  • Preparation of budget quotations where necessary
  • Preparation of tender and post-tender presentations (written and oral)
  • Liaison with the Estimating Department during the tender period and overseeing the preparation of tender presentations
  • Conducting technical seminars to architectural practices
  • Compiling a list of relevant press cuttings for leads and following these up
  • Attendance at all Sales or other meetings as directed

Construction Apprentice

  • Location: Central London

24 month programme

Part of the Optima Group, Optima Installations Ltd is an aluminium framework, glass, and joinery contractor for commercial fit-outs within the UK. Part of the Optima Group, with over 25 years experience of delivering high-quality projects on time and on budget. Our ethos is to provide our clients with exceptional service from the initial design right through to practical completion.

We directly employ in the region of 40 highly skilled operatives, ranging from, Site Managers, Site Supervisors to partition installers & carpenters. We have the skills to undertake projects ranging from £5,000.00 to £10,000,000.00. Our aim is to develop and maintain strong lasting relationships, resulting in repeat business from clients who regularly seek our specialist services.

This vacancy is open to people who can travel and work within and around the M25, the majority of work being in Central London.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

To work within a team to deliver the highest quality glazed partitions. Take instructions from the site management team to ensure delivery of projects on time snag free.

To ensure that all company policies and procedures are fully implemented and adhered to on allocated contract sites. This specifically includes but is not limited to Health & Safety and the requirements of the Company Business Management System.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to achieve an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Interior Systems which will include college attendance of varying blocks (2, 3, and 4 weeks) at the National Construction College.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

During the apprenticeship, you will be given a variety of job duties, such as;

  • Reading and understanding plan drawings as to set out location of partitions
  • Reading and understanding detailed drawings as to build what is required
  • Install structures or fixtures, such as aluminium framework, timber framework using carpenters hand or power tools
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Shape or cut material to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials
  • Installing various sizes/specifications of glass to partition system
  • Cleaning, protecting, and maintaining protection to the glass
  • Work towards an apprenticeship framework set out by the appointed college
  • Such other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time
