Project Manager/ Assistant Project Manager

Due to our continued success, we have an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager to join our Optima Major Works team. Our dedicated team of Project Managers consistently deliver exceptional customer service and the highest quality installations, on-time and within budget.

The role:

As a Project Manager, you will work within the contracts department to manage projects from start to completion. You will be accountable for our site managers, working foreman, site engineers, and general labour.

Key responsibilities of a Project Manager:

  • Set up contract files
  • Agree site set up with site manager, surveyor, and director
  • Produce construction programmes
  • Produce procurement schedules – subcontract and purchase procurement schedules to be produced based on the construction programme, to be produced in conjunction with the surveyor (where applicable) and identify when financial information will be required
  • Identify clients free issue materials
  • Produce design programmes in conjunction with the design department
  • Complete Health & Safety requisitions for site safety services
  • Produce method statements, COSHH and risk assessments as per Health & Safety Plan
  • Produce quality plans
  • Ensure a drawing register is produced and maintained
  • Place sub-contract orders and assist the surveyor
  • Order plant and materials
  • Report all significant problems on the project
  • Set up site files
  • Agree site manager’s duties
  • Attend regular internal contract review meetings
  • Review subcontract performance at the end of the project
  • Ensure a copy of all relevant information on site
  • Issue a progress report at every client progress meeting

The ideal candidate will have relevant Construction Project Management experience, ideally from an interior fit out / subcontractor background.

This role will cover projects in London and the southeast so candidates must be in a suitable location to commute to London and our head office in High Wycombe.

Trainee Quantity Surveyor

We are experts in acoustics and in the supply and installation of independently tested, fire-rated products. Our product development team are constantly striving to keep us as market leaders in glass partitioning systems. We have our own “Optima” branded range of partitioning systems which are highly regarded and have secured numerous industry awards.

Due to our continued success, we have an excellent opportunity for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our Optima Major Works team in High Wycombe.

The role:

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will work within the commercial department shadowing an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor learning the fundamentals of our business and trade. They will offer you guidance and assistance with your development that will be individually reviewed periodically. You will gain a wider knowledge of how a commercial team interact with each department and how success is delivered.  

You will join on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary, alongside the opportunity to work in a well-established and friendly company.

Key responsibilities of our Trainee Quantity Surveyor will include:

  • Complete job start form.
  • Obtain all cost information including estimating data and any quotations used in the tender.
  • Start up a financial file.
  • Obtain and agree procurement schedule.
  • Establish variation dates with client.
  • Raise draft invoices to accounts department.
  • Produce projected sales forecast when the valuation dates are known.
  • Set up valuation format based around the tender document.
  • Submit valuations to the client in accordance with the valuation dates.
  • Obtain payment certificate.
  • Ensure accounts raise an invoice.
  • Place sub-contract orders.
  • Submit cost value reconciliations to the Financial Manager on a monthly basis.
  • Submit/agree final account.
  • Ensure instructions are made as appropriate to invoice retention releases.
  • Instructions to be obtained for all variations.
  • Significant problems on the project to be reported – complete problem report.
  • Attend regular internal contract review meetings.
  • Value all variations and submit to the client.
  • Instruct sub-contracts for variations – obtain a quotation where possible.
  • Raise sub-contract payments.
  • Agree final accounts with sub-contractors.
  • Visit site regularly.

In order to succeed you will need to be tenacious, able to quickly establish working relationships with a variety of people and thrive in a varied and fast paced environment. 

You will have received, or be expecting to achieve, a degree of at least 2:1 level, but the course studied is not as important as having the requisite personal attributes.

Manufacturing Senior Operator

Main Purpose of Position

  • Supporting the manufacturing team by overseeing, controlling, and monitoring of materials and manufacturing activities, ensuring they run to programme, budget, and meet the company’s safety, quality, and environmental requirements. On occasion providing support to any of the company’s other manufacturing/assembly departments when production workload dictates

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  • To co‐ordinate and control the delivery of material and provide personnel a safe, secure, and efficient working environment.
  • To co-ordinate the manufacturing and inspection of product for your designated shift using the company’s E.R.P system.
  • To control, direct and monitor, the department’s resources, and facilities to achieve project or programme schedules.
  • To ensure that all works are completed to defined standards of quality.
  • To implement and control an operator led 5s programme.
  • To control issue and monitor the use of PPE, ensuring it is worn and used correctly at all times.
  • To continuously review procedures and capability in order to sustain the most

cost effective and efficient methods and make recommendations for improvement as appropriate.

  • To monitor and report progress through attendance at daily production meetings.
  • To co-ordinate employee’s holidays and shift arrangements ensuring that sufficient personnel are available for all shifts to meet safety and production demand.
  • To liaise closely with other departments regarding the deployment of labour and co-ordination of jobs

Additional Tasks

  • To assist planning with the provision of accurate process timings for new or bespoke products.
  • To monitor and record any unplanned work or activities which may affect programme.
  • Provide accurate estimated manufacturing lead times for various projects.
  • To review all plant and ancillary equipment with long/short term view for process improvement.

Manufacturing Operative

Main Purpose of Position

  • Operating on a weekly rotating shift pattern, as a Manufacturing Operative you will be required to work within any of the company’s operational areas (Production / Warehouse) undertaking various tasks and processes to ensure the timely and accurate production of goods, thus ensuring on time delivery and quality are achieved or surpassed.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  • Follow basic production plans/ instructions.
  • Complete thorough visual quality inspections.
  • Operating CNC machinery and assembly operations
  • Complete quality inspections and report any issues to the department Leader.
  • Prepare goods for despatch.
  • Undertake stock management activities.
  • Be flexible for switching departments depending on manufacturing requirements.

Construction Apprentice

Part of the Optima Group, Optima Installations Ltd is an aluminium framework, glass, and joinery contractor for commercial fit-outs within the UK. Part of the Optima Group, with over 25 years experience of delivering high-quality projects on time and on budget. Our ethos is to provide our clients with exceptional service from the initial design right through to practical completion.

We directly employ in the region of 40 highly skilled operatives, ranging from, Site Managers, Site Supervisors to partition installers & carpenters. We have the skills to undertake projects ranging from £5,000.00 to £10,000,000.00. Our aim is to develop and maintain strong lasting relationships, resulting in repeat business from clients who regularly seek our specialist services.

This vacancy is open to people who can travel and work within and around the M25, the majority of work being in Central London.


To work within a team to deliver the highest quality glazed partitions. Take instructions from the site management team to ensure delivery of projects on time snag free.

To ensure that all company policies and procedures are fully implemented and adhered to on allocated contract sites. This specifically includes but is not limited to Health & Safety and the requirements of the Company Business Management System.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to achieve an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Interior Systems which will include college attendance of varying blocks (2, 3, and 4 weeks) at the National Construction College.


During the apprenticeship, you will be given a variety of job duties, such as;

  • Reading and understanding plan drawings as to set out location of partitions
  • Reading and understanding detailed drawings as to build what is required
  • Install structures or fixtures, such as aluminium framework, timber framework using carpenters hand or power tools
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Shape or cut material to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials
  • Installing various sizes/specifications of glass to partition system
  • Cleaning, protecting, and maintaining protection to the glass
  • Work towards an apprenticeship framework set out by the appointed college
  • Such other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time
